News

Spring 2008

A new environmentally friendly rigid inflatable boat will be launched shortly. Collaboration with a boat builder is sought, for further development of the amphibious RIB. There are some part-time vacancies on the marine side of the company.

Winter 2007

A US patent was granted for the amphibious RIB.

Summer 2007

Coupland Bell has joined the West Midlands Collaborative Commerce Marketplace.

Spring 2007

Coupland Bell has joined the Midlands Marine Alliance and the West Midlands ecluster.

October 2006

First hovering test of the Amphibious RIB
The Amphibious RIB has successfully begun hovering tests in the West Midlands.









September 2005

Mark Evans discusses the craft with the EU Commissioner Danuta Hübner, the European Commissioner for the Regions, visited Warwick University in September 2005.

During her visit, she was introduced to Mark Evans, Chief Designer of the Amphibious RIB. Ms Hübner had a tour of the prototype craft and could immediately see an application for it in her own country, Poland, which suffered severe flooding during the summer.



Spring 2005

Launching the Amphibious RIB for its initial water trials The Amphibious RIB began water testing on inland water and in Harwich harbour.

The craft has attracted much interest from the UK Search and Rescue community and several international development agencies.











January 2004

The Princess Royal at the London Boat Show Coupland Bell has been commended by the British Marine Federation and the Institute of Navel Architects for its Amphibious RIB design.

The Princess Royal attended the Schroeders London Boat Show to see the short-listed entries for the Concept Boat competition on 15 January. There was significant interest in the competition entries from all over the world.

The competition judges described the Amphibious RIB as "an interesting combination of different technologies to provide a high tech amphibious craft".


September 2003

Coupland Bell started to develop a new craft combining features of a hovercraft and a planing boat, with the ability to negotiate mud, shallow or fouled water in bad weather.
A news article appeared in The Engineer.


Spring 2003 

Coupland Bell has been accepted to membership of the British Commercial Boatbuilders' Association and the British Marine Federation.
